Visit two of Boston's finest museums - The Museum of Fine Arts & Isabella Stewart Gardener

Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts with Rembrandt & Isabella Stewart Gardener

Wednesday, February 25

Join us as we explore two of Boston's finest museums!

Enjoy three hours exploring one of the most comprehensive museums in the world with art from ancient Egyptian to contemporary; Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. In addition to the extensive permanent collections there are several traveling exhibits on display now including "Rembrandt and the Jews in the Dutch Republic." In the 17th century, Jews played a critical role in the vibrant visual culture of the Dutch Republic-as patrons, collectors, and subjects of art, particularly in the work of Rembrandt and his circle. Living in the heart of Amsterdam's Jewish district, Rembrandt received commissions from his Jewish neighbors, incorporated them into biblical scenes, and depicted them in character studies.

Then spend the afternoon exploring the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum. Housed in a stunning 15th-century Venetian-style palace with three stories of galleries surrounding a sun filled interior courtyard, the Museum provides an unusual backdrop for the viewing of art. The mid-winter courtyard features masses of tropical and subtropical plants with many shades of green punctuated by abundant bright orchids. The Museum's preeminent collection contains more than 2,500 paintings, sculptures, tapestries, furniture, manuscripts, rare books and decorative arts. The galleries house works by some of the most recognized artists in the world, including Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Manet, Degas and Sargent. We will enjoy an hour-long docent tour of the museum with time afterwards to enjoy the museum on your own
